Smash Cake Photography, family from Laurel
This sweet boy came in the studio for a smash cake photoshoot over the weekend. At our pre-photo appointment, mom shared her worries that his boy probably wouldn't touch the cake at all because he freaked out when they placed the cake in front of him on his birthday. But he did it at his smash cake session and ate the cake and in a super cute way. I can still remember the laughters and smiles from his parents at this precious moment. 😍
I myself have a very sensitive child. She cried at every playdate because she was afraid of everything new to her. New people, new place, even new toys. So my instinct asked me to approach this sweet boy slowly with extra care. Forget about the photoshoot. To gain his trust was really the first thing to do.
At the beginning, he just didn't trust the cake at all, especially when he also needed to handle me as a stranger at the same time. We encouraged him to just touch and feel the cake. We fed him the icing in hope that he could get a little sugar high and more relaxed, but he kept turning his head away and refused to lick. At last, mom and I could only cut a piece of cake out to play with by ourselves. And it worked! Watching us play, he got curious and eventually started eating the cake. Yes!
Good job, baby. It's absolutely ok to be afraid, but you have earned the courage to overcome one thing today and so many more later in your life. Happy 1st birthday! Here are some sweet photos of our big boy.
